Hi Class of 2019!
We, your class council, have created this forum to discuss questions, concerns and solutions that come up during the coming year. The Academic Liaisons will keep track of posts and follow up with each concern in a timely manner. Please be respectful of other peoples thoughts and ideas as everybody approaches their education differently.
Let's have a great year!

I would like to see the answers soon after I take those Thursday quizzes so I know what I get wrong. I don't think it's fair that we don't get to see them because other students haven't taken those quizzes. If anything, I think that the students who missed those quizzes should have a totally new or different set of quizzes so we (those who took the quizzes) can know what we get wrong.

Oh. And thank you for setting this up. I think it's really great so we can speak our minds!

We should have all of our classes ( especially preventative health) video recorded.

Although I think Dr. Pulido is a wonderful individual, I believe that the language barrier is too great for her to be teaching courses such as cariology. Much of what is said in class is not on her slides and it makes it difficult to learn when important information is so difficult to decipher. That being said, it might seem like a simple solution to put more information on the slides, but personally I don't feel that someone that is paying over 70k a year for their education should be forced to learn by simply reading a powerpoint presentation. Again, I think that Dr. Pulido is a great individual, however the language barrier is not conducive to a strong learning environment.

I am enjoying my time as a dental student and am totally happy with my decision on coming here. I don't have much input to improve other than I would like to see more recent articles in our case studies and class materials. Although some things might not have drastic changes, I would like future students to know current HIV statistics, not be tested on those twelve years ago. There were some controversial out dated data in preventative as well. I think it is just good to update articles/ resources once in a while.

Could you please make a recommendation to faculty, but mainly Dr. Pulido, that if they are going to include graphics in their Powerpoint presentation, we need to be able to read the information. There are way too many slides from lecture that are either out of focus or just too small to read. The professor's seem to know all of the info, but when we are studying for exams and can't read vital information, I feel like we are put at a disadvantage come exam time. As an example, from Preventative Lecture #6, slides 17 and 19 are impossible to read. Slide 23 is a little difficult, but manageable. Thanks!

I think that lecturers like Tarr make their powerpoints way too messy and unclear. It just jumps all over the place and I feel that every time I have to study for one of her exams I'm stuck trying to jump all over her notes trying to understand where she is going. She adds way too much extraneous information and too many images. If she is going to do that, she should provide a clear objectives page so that were not looking at images from the hunger games with steps and little boxes everywhere.

What is the point of a professional dress code if it is not enforced in any way? We are supposed to be a professional campus, training tomorrows health care professionals and people can't adhere to simple dress codes. Also, the failure to adhere to the dress code is getting worse as time goes on. Either let people wear whatever they want, or enforce the dress code. I get people like to wear black clothes that aren't scrubs, fine. But there are people not even trying anymore.
Also, I agree that Pulido needs more information on her slides, especially with the language barrier. I don't think anybody understood carious lesions when she was trying to teach that lecture - and her slides did not cover it in the detail that it was tested.

I really enjoy the Personal Finance classes we have with Dr. Carroll. I wish we had more classes about business and finance because those would definitely be helpful when we start our own practice!
